Knight Proofreading offers editing and/or proofreading services for a variety of written content. I also provide resume revision and cover letter writing services. Review the information below to determine which service best meets your needs.
Proofreading focuses on correcting superficial errors in spelling, grammar, syntax, punctuation, and formatting. It generally occurs at the end of the writing process as a final step before submitting a document which is otherwise ready to be published.
Editing takes a deeper look at how information and ideas are presented. While editing includes all steps involved in proofreading, the focus is on making changes that make the writing easier to understand, better organized, and more suitable for your audience.
What to Expect
You can always expect friendly, prompt service and an end product that at least meets and hopefully exceeds your expectations. You are free to ask questions and communicate with me without worrying about judgment or a snarky response. You'll never know if you don't ask! My goal in each interaction is to help you communicate exactly what you mean, free of the clutter of errors, poor style, or bad grammar. My goal is to help you make your voice heard above all the noise out there. In a world where everyone is talking but often saying very little, let me help you say something meaningful.
I proofread and edit using the Chicago Manual of Style and Merriam-Webster's Unabridged Dictionary. If you prefer or require another style guide (AP, in-house, or custom), please communicate that via email when you submit your content. If using an in-house or custom style guide, I'll need you to provide me with a copy of your style or preference list.
You may submit Microsoft Word or PDF documents. After receipt of your document, I will complete the review using iAnnotate or Google Docs with suggestions turned on. I will return the reviewed document to you in the time frame agreed upon.
Please be advised that I will not be returning a clean copy to you. You will see my suggested changes or edits and have the option to incorporate suggested changes yourself, giving you greater control over the final product.
